Story of the Wolfhounds

A 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Org. - Bringing Irish sports & culture to the Triad

The Winston-Salem Wolfhounds is a local Gaelic (Irish) Football club promoting traditional Irish sports and culture in the Winston-Salem community and beyond. The club was founded in January 2015 by Timothy Cronin and achieved Non-Profit 501(c)(3) status in March of 2015.   The inaugural ‘unofficial’ game for the club was against Raleigh Cú Chulainn at Poteat Field (Wake Forest University) in Winston-Salem, NC on April 27th 2014. We played 11 v 11 because we did not have enough players to play 13 v 13…but it was a start.   The club currently participates at junior level, competing in Gaelic Football in the Southeast Division of the North American County Board (NACB), which is part of the United States Gaelic Athletic Association (USGAA).   Our goal is to promote teamwork, a sense of community, Irish cultural understanding, and general fitness. We are community-based club and is open to people of all ages, genders and fitness levels.   Cú Faoil Abú! (Up the Wolfhounds!)
