Your lifestyle has a significant impact on your brain health. Keep your brain in shape with these tips:

1. Exercise 30 minutes every day. Physical exercise improves blood flow and memory. People who exercise regularly have a lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

2. Maintain a healthy diet. Choose lean meats, leafy greens, nuts and foods rich in antioxidants – like blueberries and raspberries. Avoid foods high in saturated fats, which have been linked to Alzheimer’s disease. 

3. Take time to relax. Schedule regular periods of relaxation into your week. Excess stress hormones can be harmful to the brain. 

4. Be social. Studies show that regular interaction with friends and family helps maintain a healthy brain.

5. Work on your mental fitness. Take a class. Stimulate your brain with crossword puzzles, chess or online games. Try new hobby or skill, like studying a new language or trying your hand at photography.
