100 years ago on Easter Monday (April 24th 1916) a small group of activists within the Irish Volunteers led an insurrection aimed at Irish independence. The 1,000+ strong army took over strategic locations in Dublin and spilled blood in the attempt to free Ireland from the hand of England. Although there was disagreement within the general Irish population, some communications had broken down and support for the uprising was not absolute throughout the country, it with ahead anyway.

The battle albeit short and intense left an everlasting effect on the people of Ireland. This act by some brave Irish souls set the stage for what would become the eventual secession from Great Britain in 1922 and the Formation of an Irish Republic on Easter Monday April 18th 1949. On the 33rd anniversary of the beginning of the 1916 Rising

The people who fought and died for the freedom of our country will never be forgotten and I thank them all for their bravery. I appreciate all the freedoms I have gained from their sacrifices. Éire Abú!
